The 33rd Education and Careers Expo
25 - 28 January 2024

Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) joined the Education and Careers Expo 2024 held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for four consecutive days (25 - 28 January 2024) to offer youngsters and job seekers comprehensive information on studies, training, and career opportunities in the maritime and port industry.

With an eye-catching “container ship” booth along with various types of containers on board, HKMPB splendidly showcased this year's theme of maritime navigation. Through conventional display panels, careers videos and information kits, an informative account of maritime-related sectors and professions was delivered to visitors, covering ocean-going sector, local vessels trade, high value-added maritime services, relevant training programmes as well as funding schemes under the Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF). In addition, a brand new maritime-themed interactive game was especially set up at the booth, and winners of the game can take away one of our maiden series of mini-container key chains. We also gave away a 3D wooden container-vessel puzzle to those who followed our HKMPB on Facebook. These successfully attracted stopover by lots of students and family visitors to enquire about industry information and participate in the interactive game.

Students from Hong Kong Sea School and industry practitioners were also present to share their learning or working experiences with public visitors. Through this promotional activity, HKMPB hopes to cultivate interests and enhance awareness of the maritime industry among local students and the general public, thereby encourage them to pursue careers in the maritime industry.

Moreover, “Aviation & Maritime” was featured as one of the four main themes of the Expo. Hong Kong's first female holder of Sea-going Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1, as star speaker, also shared the muddle and joys of her seafaring career on the last day of the event.
