The 29th Education and Careers Expo

The Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) took part in the Education & Careers Expo (Expo) by setting up a booth at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre which was held from 24-27 January 2019. This is the third time that HKMPB participated in the Expo since its establishment.
Besides information panels, several LED display panels were set up at the booth playing a series of career videos on maritime professions, in which two videos were just produced this year. Information on entry requirements, career prospects and promotion opportunities of various positions in the maritime industry was introduced. Maritime-related games with interactive technology were specially designed to arouse the interests of the students and visitors towards maritime industry.
Students of the Maritime Services Training Institute of the Vocational Training Council and practitioners of the maritime industry were also invited to share their practical working experience and entry requirements with the interested students.
Information sets which included brochures of maritime-related programmes and funding schemes under Maritime and Aviation Training Fund were distributed at the booth. In combination with the exchanges with the in-service practitioners, we hoped to extend the interests and arouse the awareness of the students and general public towards the maritime industry, thereby encouraging them to join the industry.
